Aims to link artists of all disciplines, creating a broad-based, multi-cultural
arts community, and to strengthen the connection between the artists and the
community. They want to develop the artistic community by providing a network
of resources, artist development programs, performance and exhibition opportunities,
and community-based arts initiatives.

Cloisters

Tryon Park, overlooking the Hudson River, the
building incorporates elements from five medieval
French cloisters and from other monastic sites
in southern France. The Cloisters is a branch
of the Metropolitan Museum of Art that boasts
a splendid collection of medieval artifacts,
paintings and architecture.
Community Arts Showcase (CAS)

offers an avenue of exposure to artists of
all mediums and disciplines in Washington Heights
and Inwood. Its goal is to reach out to the
community at large as well as the youth of
the community. Working without a headquarters,
CAS lines up venues and organizes public showings
of the work of artists in the community.
Cornerstone
Chorale

group strives to bring singers together from Washington
Heights, Inwood, other Manhattan neighborhoods
and other boroughs. Cornerstone, the only community
chorus north of 125th Street in Manhattan, is dedicated
to providing quality concert programs within the
local community, and is often invited to perform
in other locations as well.

organization that promotes weekly encounters

Culturarte organizes periodic conventions, congresses,

Literary Review

that showcases and celebrates the work of writers

and mixed media.

professionals. Our name is our mission. It maintains
a registry of more than 300 portfolios, and organizes

York City metropolitan area. NURTUREart also
assists individual artists and curators with
career development advice, and presents artists'
talks, slide lectures, workshops, symposia, portfolio
reviews and other enjoyable and educational events
for artists, curators, and the general public.

Russian American Cultural Heritage Center
(RACH-C)

the Russian American community. RACH-C strives
to preserve the culture, traditions and values
immigrants have brought from their Russian-speaking
countries of origin, so that these can be enjoyed

provides advice and technical assistance to
Russian American organizations and individuals
who are attempting to bring worthwhile projects

Shakespeare
in the Wild

to provide actors with a forum to gain experience

Uptown
Arts Stroll
The Uptown Arts Stroll is an annual arts event in Washington Heights and Inwood.
The neighborhoods are transformed into an art gallery. Local merchants, institutions,
and residents open their doors to the community to showcase the work of local
artists.
